Woman caught on camera pocketing Jellycat keychain at Arab Street store
A local store along Arab Street has shared CCTV footage of a woman caught allegedly shoplifting a Jellycat keychain in broad daylight.
The 25-second clip, timestamped Nov 1 at around 1.18 pm, shows a Caucasian woman appears to hesitate at the entrance of the store, which sells sneakers, streetwear and collectible toys.
She walks in, glances around, then takes hold of the item before continuing to survey her surroundings. "Item in question: a Jellycat keychain," a line in the video read.
Clutching the keychain, the woman pauses for a moment and then quietly exits without paying.
It's unclear if the store called the police.
Posted on TikTok by @snooze.store on Nov 2 with the cheeky caption "She said it's free if you move fast enough", the video has since racked up more than 110,000 views and 2,800 likes.
'Shoplifting very common': Netizen
Netizens were quick to react. "Everywhere got CCTV, they think they can steal," one said.
Another urged: "Post for what? Just call the police."
Some joked that the clip might be a marketing stunt. "Obviously that's their own worker and this is just a marketing video," one said.
But another user disagreed, replying: "Probably not, people steal things at haji lane and thrift shops all the time."
One commenter even claimed to know the woman in the clip, saying: "Omg that's my friend." After others urged him to tell her to return the item before the police got involved, he replied: "She says she scared and doesn't know what to do."
