Was it a dramatic fight or just another marketing gimmick?

What started off as a clip of an apparent heated argument between a couple quickly spiraled online, with netizens debating whether the drama was genuine or cleverly staged.

An Instagram post of the incident, which reportedly took place on October 28 at 7.19pm, was uploaded on Nov 1.

Captioned "Only in SG: you go jalan jalan, end up watching live couple quarrel", the clip had 174,000 views, 1,414 reactions and 78 comments at press time.

'You are making a scene'

At the start of the 17-second clip, the man is heard repeatedly saying: "I understand".

The spat then escalates physically when the man tells the woman: "You are making a scene, we are in public." In response, she swings her handbag at him again and again while echoing his words.

The man then walks away, leaving the woman devastated as she squats in the middle of the path where they were quarreling.

However, the context of their quarrel and where the incident took place remain unclear.

'I understand, I understand what?': Netizen

Many netizens were quick to point out that the fight looked too "staged", with one commenting that it was "decent acting ngl".

"The crying part is so outdated leh…looks like something from acting class," one user quipped. Others remarked: "You think we're gonna believe this?" and "Another advertisement?"

"Lucky this one has no Labubu hanging on the bag," one said in jest.

Some praised the man for walking away instead of retaliating when the woman got physical. "If she can start hitting first, definitely not a good wife," said one commenter, while another called her a "drama queen".

Some sided with the woman. "Just leave him and find another one," said one.

"You both don't deserve to have a partner again," said another.

Other netizens warned about the toxic nature of the relationship, with comments such as: "Domestic abuse. Guys need to protect themselves better,"
