BMW driver, 25, charged for driving dangerously against traffic for 3.5km along Bartley Road East
A 25-year-old BMW driver was charged in court on Feb 25 for dangerous driving.
The police were alerted to an incident involving a black car driving against the flow of traffic along Bartley Road East towards Tampines Avenue 10 on Dec 14 at about 12.50am.
The car had left the scene by the time the report was lodged, said the police in a news release.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of traffic cameras, officers from the Traffic Police subsequently established the identity of the driver, Harold Ong, and arrested him for dangerous driving.
The Singaporean is accused of driving against the flow of traffic for approximately 3.5km, according to court documents. On at least one occasion, he caused another vehicle to take evasive action by changing lanes to the left.
Dashcam videos of the incident were posted online by SG Road Vigilante.
The offence of dangerous driving carries a fine up to $5000, a jail term of up to 12 months, or both.
In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, the offence carries a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to two years, or both.
Offenders may also face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
