4 men allegedly colluded to cheat Grab of $58,000 with fake accounts and claims

Four men, aged 30 to 35, were arrested for cheating after they allegedly made fraudulent Grab claims amounting to more than $58,000.

The company had detected multiple fake bookings made between May and July, with earnings credited to Grab wallets even though the jobs were not completed.

Grab Singapore reported the case to the police on July 16.

Police investigations found that the men had allegedly colluded to create fake Grab accounts and manipulated the platform to submit bogus claims, resulting in wrongful losses of over $58,000 to Grab Singapore.

They will be charged in court on Nov 28 with cheating, an offence that carries up to 10 years' jail and a fine.

The police said they take a serious view of such fraudulent schemes and warned against exploiting digital platforms for illegal gain.
