Elderly couple signs up for $1,000 package with hairstylist at Toa Payoh salon -- then she quits
Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.
An elderly couple signed up for a $1,000 package with a hairstylist at a Toa Payoh hair salon, but then she quit.
Stomper Mary misses the stylist whose name is Annie.
"Annie was skillful in her work and well-mannered," recalled the Stomper.
"We were left in the lurch. The operations manager assured us that we would be taken care of since we had signed a package worth slightly more than $1,000.
"Unfortunately, we were NOT taken care of.
For one thing, the Stomper said she and husband had to wait at least an hour every time they visit the salon.
She added: "The different hairstylists were rude and ill-mannered. It seemed like they were doing us a favour by cutting our hair!
"They are more interested in pushing me to sign for more packages despite me having paid for a $1,000 package."
The Stomper also griped about the "unhygienic and dirty" floor.
"The entire saloon is covered with cut hair from customers since opening time," she said.
"When I requested a refund, it was dismissed.
"It is totally unbelievable that my 80-year-old husband and myself who paid for a package of $1,000 is treated disrespectfully again and again."
The Stomper lamented: "Singapore prides herself as world-class yet Singaporeans are being cheated and treated disrespectfully in their own estate."
