'Accept that everything has tripled in price, just like how you want your salary to keep going up'
Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.
Is Singapore an expensive city to live in?
Stomper Constance feels that food prices have only gone up - and does not expect them to ever come down again.
She said: "Nothing is cheap when you eat out these days, ever since the outbreak of Covid-19. Practically everything has escalated to more than triple the price since 2024.
"Eating at home or preparing your own food may save you some money, but the younger generation don't have the luxury of time. Neither are they interested in learning even simple cooking, even down to the simplest dishes like salads and soups.
"High rental fees and labour costs continue to rise, so do not expect your noodles or cai png to cost the same as before Covid-19.
"Gone are the good old days. Just accept without filing complaints. Same as how you want your salary to increase yearly, this applies to any vendors who need to cover their overheads too."
