Long-lost childhood friends reunite after 50 years thanks to Stomp: 'It's really unbelievable'
Fifty years may have passed, but time melted away when two childhood friends were reunited with Stomp's help.
On Aug 19, Stomp reported that 67-year-old Mr Tan Lian Huat, also known as Ah Huat, was searching for his long-lost friend, whom he knew as Soon Kia.
With only fragments of memories from the 1970s, Mr Tan's niece, Stomper Ling, appealed for the public's help to find him.
The appeal was successful within just one day.
Soon Kia's sister Juliet reached out to Stomp on Aug 20 after reading the article and was connected with Ling.
Juliet shared: "Thank you Stomp for reconnecting Ah Huat and Soon Kia through your platform. I was the one who saw the article.
"The search turned out to be successful in just one day - it's really unbelievable!"
She added that she managed to persuade her brother to meet Mr Tan for dinner in Tampines on Aug 29.
Soon Kia's mother, Juliet and another sister tagged along as well.
"Seeing them reunite after 50 years was honestly so heartwarming," Juliet said.
"They had so much to talk about - it was like no time had passed.
"This was something truly meaningful, and a beautiful moment to witness.
"I'm really grateful that Stomp made it happen."
Ling added: "Mr Tan really appreciates the Stomp team for their hard work and posting the article.
"They happily chatted for a very long time that night and are still in contact."
