Several young anglers were caught fishing in a non-designated area at Sengkang Riverside Park on Feb 22.

Stomper P said the youths displayed "provocative" behaviour when he called them out.

P was passing by the park near Tenderbest, a Western food store, at around 4.50pm when he noticed three boys fishing at a spot where a 'No Fishing' sign was clearly displayed.

According to the Stomper, he and his companion pointed out the sign to the boys, but their advice was ignored.

"They made provocative gestures and refused to heed what we said," he recounted.

Although he was unable to capture the "provocative" gestures on video, P said he did manage to film part of the encounter.

In the clip, the boys – who appeared to be in their teens – can be seen fishing in the waters, right next to the 'No Fishing' sign. A youth in a dark blue T-shirt is then seen walking away out of frame, as the two other youths continue fishing.

P said the boys were initially not wearing masks, but later put them on and even flashed a 'V' sign at the camera.

"See the red shirt guy. They even posed while doing illegal fishing. Not repentant," P told Stomp.

The Stomper confirmed that he has reported the incident to the National Parks Board (NParks).

According to guidelines by the NParks and PUB, fishing is only allowed at designated areas in parks and reservoirs.

Those caught violating fishing regulations may be fined up to $3,000.

Stomp has contacted NParks for more information.
