Young girl rides motorised luggage in Jurong, no adult in sight
A young girl was seen riding a motorised luggage unsupervised in Jurong West on July 17.
Stomper Kingsley shared videos of the incident, which occurred at about 6pm at Jurong West Street 64.
"I saw this primary school girl using a personal mobility device (PMD) as a school bag and riding it on the public road," he said. "Very dangerous."
The girl appeared to be riding the device unsupervised, as she was seen crossing the road at a traffic light before continuing onto a park connector alone.
While she seemed to be keeping to cycling paths where possible, the Stomper was concerned due to her age and lack of adult oversight.
According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), motorised luggage is categorised as a personal mobility device (PMD) or e-scooter, and is subject to the same regulations as motorised PMDs.
Under the Active Mobility Act, users of personal mobility devices (PMDs) must be at least 16 years old to ride them on public paths.
Those under 16 are only allowed to do so under the supervision of an adult who has passed a mandatory online theory test for e-scooter riders.
PMDs are also prohibited on roads, and riders must use footpaths or cycling paths that permit such devices.
