Yet another Tampines void deck flooded with bikes, even as town council puts up 'no parking' signs

Bicycles are hogging the space at void decks in Tampines yet again, this time at a different block.

Stomper Wee said residents of Block 933 Tampines Street 91 are facing the same issue as Block 803 Tampines Avenue 4, which Stomp previously reported on.

"It obstructs walking, wheelchairs, deliveries, grocery trolleys, and so much more," Wee lamented.

The parked bicycles would often fall over as they were not secured to any support structures. Some would even be parked directly below the 'no parking' signs.

"Despite there being adequate empty bicycle parking lots at the parking bay next to the block, the cyclists refused to utilize them," the Stomper added.

"Then what is the purpose of setting up the parking bay?

"And despite the town council displaying the notice, cyclists refused to abide."

According to Wee, the situation has been going on for a few years.

Tampines Town Council had earlier said that they are aware of the problem at Block 803 and the inconvenience it has caused to residents.

"The issue tends to intensify on weekdays, likely due to the block's proximity to Tampines West MRT Station, which attracts heavy commuter traffic," said a spokesperson.

The spokesperson also acknowledged that the problem is not fully resolved despite efforts.

Wee shared his frustrations about the impasse and said: "Just removing the bicycles will not solve the root problem at all.

"The authorities should work together and help the residents and cleaners using the pathway to improve the situation."
