Woman worried for Tai Wah Pork Noodles' reputation after being given measly portion of liver

A diner was disappointed by the tiny portions of pork liver that she got in her bak chor mee from a popular Simei stall.

Stomper Karen visited Tai Wah Pork Noodles' outlet at the food court in Eastpoint Mall on Nov 24. She paid $5.90 for Item #2 on the menu: noodles with liver, meatballs and pork slices.

Karen recounted: "I was shocked at the liver slices – or should I say slivers?! Look at the photos: I had about three to four slivers and the biggest piece was the one on the left! The sliver next to it was slimmer and smaller than the pork lard!

"When I brought it up with the lady taking orders, instead of being apologetic, she glared at me and rattled off in Mandarin (which I couldn't totally catch or understand) as if I should be thankful for those measly slivers!

"So I picked up a tiny piece of liver and said, 'If it's cut to such a size, might as well not give any to the customer!'"

Karen explained that she loves pork liver, adding: "I'd expected slices of about two inches by one inch at least, and maybe two pieces minimum!?

"What a disappointment in this particular outlet of the famous Tai Wah Pork Noodles. Their other branches are usually fine, so I'm just highlighting this for their namesake."

Stomp has contacted Tai Wah Pork Noodles for more info.

Founded in 1939, the popular bak chor mee chain has gained recognition from local celebrities and the Michelin Guide Singapore.
