It took $500,000 and seven months to renovate her terrace house - but the experience and results were well worth it.

Stomper Tan shared photos of her beautiful three-storey home in the eastern region of Singapore and praised the interior design company that she used.

The firm, Simplicity ID & Reno, is fronted by a father-and-daughter team.

Tan said she was inspired to share her positive experience with the company "amid horror renovation stories" and in hopes of "bringing a little light to this dark tunnel".

She told Stomp: "I renovated all three floors of my house over the last seven months. The results are spectacular and the work was timely.

"I rarely had to check on the progress because the contractor came highly recommended from my friends. The company sent me photos and videos whenever I could not get to the site. As work progressed, they offered good practical advice.

"Having settled into my house in the nick of time to host a Chinese New Year Eve dinner, I feel I have to give them due credit."

A key highlight of the Tan's home is a staircase that lights up, which ensures that steps are clearly visible when someone is descending, thus preventing falls.

The Stomper added: "I incorporated features for seniors such as emergency alarms hand rails and grab bars. I will also be installing a chair lift."

Even the post-renovation service has been impressive, with the company coming by to ensure that everything had been done properly and is working smoothly. This consists of checking the grouting, paint work, windows, doors and alarm systems.

Tan explained that the process took seven months as she "did some changes" along the way. The costs also include upgrades for electrical wires, pipes, flooring, windows and fencing.

She said: "I hope this story will offer some hope to those who are looking to renovate their nest. There are good and reliable contractors in Singapore after all.

"Amongst the good, bad and ugly, I am very fortunate to have discovered the good 'Simplicity' in the complex and controversial renovation market.

"Keep it up, Simplicity!"
