Woman says she vomited 8 times, ends up in hospital after eating food from Jurong West biryani restaurant
A woman said she fell ill and ended up in the hospital after eating food from a restaurant called Singapore Bucket Biryani on Jan 23.
Stomper Cheesecake had ordered the food from the Jurong West restaurant using the Grab app.
Her $52.74 order included mutton biryani, chicken tikka, paneer butter masala and naan.
"After eating, I developed severe food poisoning," alleged Cheesecake. "Between 3am and 5.30am, I vomited eight times and had diarrhea 10 times. I became so weak, I couldn't stand properly."
Her fiancé took her to Alexandra Hospital for emergency treatment.
The Stomper said: "Only after this incident did I check the reviews and notice multiple past customer reports of serious hygiene issues. I wish I had seen those reviews earlier."
Cheesecake was given two days' sick leave from Jan 24 to Jan 25.
She has since reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Singapore Bucket Biryani said: "We take this feedback very seriously and are deeply concerned to learn about the customer's experience. The health and safety of our customers are of the utmost importance to us.
"Upon receiving this information, we have initiated the necessary arrangements with our internal team to review the situation thoroughly. This includes checking our food preparation processes, hygiene practices, and supplier handling to ensure that all standards are strictly complied with."
The restaurant added that it is conducting an internal investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident and will take appropriate corrective actions where necessary to prevent any recurrence.
The spokesperson said: "In the meantime, we'll speak with the customer to understand the issue better and do the needful."
