Woman says man took photo of her on train, urges others to confront such behaviour immediately
A man allegedly took a photo of a woman while they were riding a train on the Downtown Line.
Stomper Claire shared with Stomp that she was scrolling through her phone as the train was travelling from Bayfront to Chinatown on May 21 at about 7.52am.
"I noticed a flash directed at me," she recounted.
"I looked up and this guy averted his gaze and quickly put his phone face down.
"I didn't confront him, which I now regret, but I followed him instead as he brisk-walked out at Chinatown MRT station and tapped out towards the Chinatown Point exit."
The Stomper said she immediately alerted station staff, who contacted the police.
Urging other commuters to take action in similar situations, she added: "Girls, if you catch anyone taking a photo of you, CONFRONT HIM OR HER IMMEDIATELY."
In response to a Stomp query, SBS Transit spokesperson Mrs Grace Wu said: "On the morning of May 21, a female commuter approached our station staff for assistance at the Chinatown station on the North East Line.
"Our Operations Control Centre contacted the police who arrived soon after and attended to the commuter.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind passengers to practise graciousness and consideration, which include respecting one another's privacy, to contribute towards safe and pleasant journeys."
The police confirmed with Stomp that a report was lodged.
