Woman on escalator hears commotion, turns to see man confront another for taking upskirt videos of her
A woman was going up an escalator in Tampines MRT station on Feb 21 when she heard a commotion behind her.
She turned around to see Mr Lee Teck Oon holding onto a man and confronting him for taking upskirt videos of her.
Mr Lee had spotted the man holding his handphone under the woman's skirt.
Upon checking the man's phone, she discovered upskirt videos of herself.
She and Mr Lee approached the security staff and the police were called. The man was subsequently arrested for voyeurism.
On July 12, Mr Lee was one of 14 people presented with the Public Spiritedness Award by Bedok Police Division. He had earlier also received a Community Partnership Award on May 18 for assisting the police on the same case.

The Public Spiritedness Award recipients included Sergeant Phun Zheng Kang, a paramedic with the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
On Jan 11, the police received a report of a case of an attempted armed robbery. A description of the suspect was provided by witnesses while a separate missing person report for the man was also lodged.
Hours later, Sergeant Phun saw the missing person appeal on social media and recognised the man with the description provided. He notified the police that he had earlier taken the man to the hospital, which led to his swift arrest.
The man was arrested and charged on Jan 13 with robbery when armed or with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt and voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.

Three other Public Spiritedness Award recipients on July 12 were Ms Sabariah Ismail, Mr Muhammad Rasidi Suriade and Mr Suharto Bin Ismail.
On Sept 9, 2023, Ms Sabariah and Mr Rasidi observed a man behaving suspiciously at a carpark as he was opening the covers of in-vehicle units of motorcycles.
Mr Rasidi, an off-duty police officer, approached the man and detained him with the help of Mr Suharto, who was passing by. Ms Sabariah called the police, and the man was arrested for fraudulent possession of property.
Their actions prevented the theft of cash cards in the area.
