Woman furious after unleashed dog runs up to her at Lentor Gardens: 'What if I had small kids?'
A woman was left shaken after encountering two large, unleashed dogs at Lentor Gardens on March 24.
Stomper Roselyn told Stomp that she was in the area with her parrots at about 2.13pm when she spotted a man walking his two dogs without any leash.
"One of the dogs approached me, and I was very scared," she said. "I ran to the other side."
She claimed that after the dogs defecated, the owner attempted to leave without cleaning up.
"My husband shouted and told him, 'Can you clean the s***?'"
She expressed frustration at the owner's lack of control over the dogs, especially since there were other people and birds in the area.
"If no one else was around, then fine, let them run free," she said. "But there were a few people and parrots.
"How does he know his dog won't attack my parrots?"
She also shared her discomfort when one of the dogs came too close: "You can see from the video, I didn't know where to go because the dog was too fast.
"Then I stopped, and the dog licked me. Damn disgusting!
"What if I had small kids with me?
"The worst part is that the owner didn't even apologise!"
Calling the behaviour unacceptable, she stressed that public spaces should be safe for everyone: "Unleashed dogs roaming around is not acceptable."
Under Rule 9(1)(b) of the Animals and Birds (Dog Licensing and Control) Rules, pet dogs must be leashed and under proper control at all times when in public spaces.
The maximum fine for not following the rules is $5,000.
