Woman, 66, cleaning up Geylang pasar malam stall killed when car crashes into it, driver arrested has no licence

A driver was arrested after a 66-year-old woman was killed in a car crash at a Geylang pasar malam on the night of July 11.
Photos of the accident's aftermath showing the black Ssangyong Tivoli belonging to GetGo Carsharing in a pasar malam stall were posted online by SG Road Vigilante.
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at Block 52A Circuit Road at about 11.45pm.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedic.
The 40-year-old male driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and driving without a licence and insurance, added the police.
In a statement on July 13, GetGo said preliminary information showed the car was driven by an individual who was not an authorised user, reported The Straits Times.
"This is a severe breach of our terms of service, which are designed to protect our community," it said, adding that it is cooperating fully with the police.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the deceased."
The woman was reportedly cleaning up at the kueh tutu stall when the accident happened, according to Shin Min Daily News.
Police investigations are ongoing.
