A golden retriever was seen lying on a table at a HDB void deck while its handler was on her phone on April 26 at 9.50pm.

Stomper Anonymous told Stomp that she was annoyed seeing the large dog resting on a table meant for public use at Block 178 Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

"I saw this helper looking at her handphone and inconsiderately letting the dog sit on the table," said the Stomper.

"I was just wondering if allowing a big dog on a HDB void deck public table is allowed?" she asked.

The Stomper said she found the act "very unhygienic because sometimes workers or people will use that table to have their meal."

She added that she emailed the Jurong-Clementi Town Council asking them to 'sanitise' the tables.

"From what I know, they are not supposed to allow their pets to be on top of these public tables."

"I'm not sure if this is a guide dog or an assistance dog, but the person who is managing the dog is a domestic worker," she claimed.

"Most likely, she was waiting for someone."

While there are no specific regulations preventing pets from resting on tables in common areas of HDB blocks, residents are generally advised to be considerate of others.

HDB advises residents to "take care of your pet and ensure that it does not cause any inconvenience to your neighbours."
