A woman was caught eating a whole tomato while onboard an MRT train on June 7.

Stomper Alex was travelling on the East-West Line on the way to Bugis when he spotted the incident.

"Shortly after I found a seat, a woman who had just boarded the train asked me to give it up," he recalled.

"She was wearing oversized sunglasses, so I thought she might be visually impaired."

"Although I was sitting two seats away from the reserved area, I stood up without hesitation."

However, he was shocked by what happened next.

"To my surprise, she wasn't visually impaired," he said.

"As soon as she sat down, she began digging through her bag, and pulled out a large tomato, peeled off the sticker, threw it on the floor, and started eating it."

Just a few days ago, another woman was caught eating fried chicken right in front of the "no eating" sign on the East-West Line.

Though eating and drinking on the MRT is becoming more common, it is still prohibited.

Those found guilty face a fine of up to $500.
