Woman answers lost phone and tells owner she can't talk -- but can take selfie, go JB
A man who lost his iPhone 16 Pro in Woodlands later traced it to Sembawang and then Johor, Malaysia.
The police confirmed with Stomp that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
Stomper M said her husband was on bus service 912 on Oct 29 at around 8am when he dropped his phone in the middle of the seats.
"He boarded at Woodlands Train Checkpoint and alighted at Fuchun along Woodlands Avenue 1," she recounted. "He only realised that he had lost his phone upon reaching his boss' house as he was tired and slept on the bus."
M's husband used a friend's phone to call his own, but to no avail. He then checked his old phone, which is connected to iCloud under the same account, and found that it was moving.
The iPhone's location was shown to be Block 462 Sembawang Drive in Spring Lodge, so M's husband made his way down and arrived at around 9.20am.
The Stomper recounted: "My husband kept calling his phone and a lady answered, claiming that she did not pick up earlier as she did not know how to do so. He felt relieved and spoke to her in Malay.
"My husband said, 'Aunty, you are holding my phone' and 'Can I get it back?' as he was still tracking the location.
"The aunty kept saying she was at work in Punggol and didn't want to provide her location or talk further. She also told him she would only be back in the afternoon and would pass the phone to him then.
"My husband told her that if she had mistakenly taken the phone, no worries, just hand it back."
However, the woman ended the call and switched off the phone instead, alleged M.
Suspecting that the woman had taken his phone and was unwilling to return it, M's husband lodged a police report at around 10.30am.
Last seen... in JB?
M and her husband are not hopeful about getting his phone back, and shared more bizarre findings with Stomp.
The aunty in question appeared to have taken a picture with the phone in Woodlands at 8.14am.

"The lady took a selfie on the bus. We have shared this with the police, but they are sadly unable to trace the phone," M added.
Meanwhile, the phone's last known location is the JB customs.

The Stomper said: "My husband told the police that he doesn't want the lady to be charged as she is old and, most importantly, he just wants his phone back.
"He is a very careful person, but was just too tired and took a nap on the bus that day."
