Woman allegedly swops dozens of expired Lilo products at two FairPrice Finest stores
A woman was allegedly caught swopping expired Lilo products for non-expired ones at two FairPrice Finest stores.
Local company Lilo posted a notice on its social media accounts, alerting customers that the culprit had been identified and arrested after swapping dozens of expired Lilo products at the Wisteria Mall and Ang Mo Kio Block 712 FairPrice Finest stores.
"We take food safety very seriously, and such actions will not be tolerated," Lilo said.
"Following the investigation, we have thoroughly checked all FairPrice Finest stores, and we can confirm that no other outlets have been affected by this issue."
In response to a Stomp query, Ms Lily Loh, director and founder of Lilo, said she was notified on Jan 14 by FairPrice Finest that a significant number of expired stocks were found at the Wisteria store.
"We subsequently found more expired stocks at the Ang Mo Kio 712 store," she said.
"The branch manager of Ang Mo Kio 712 reacted swiftly, identified the culprit on CCTV, and reported the matter to the police on Jan 16.
"From what I understand, the culprit was a woman."
Ms Loh shared that she visited the store to view the CCTV footage and to confirm that she did not know the female culprit.
The police confirmed with Stomp that a report was lodged and that investigations are ongoing.
Lilo's current priority is damage control in response to this incident.
"We would like to reach out to customers who have purchased expired Lilo products between Jan 9 and 15 from these two outlets due to the incident."
