Woman allegedly made off with $546 worth of hair products using fake PayLah! screenshot at Orchard pop-up event
A local haircare brand is appealing to a customer to make payment after they were allegedly 'scammed' out of more than $500 at their first-ever pop-up event.
Stomper Sarah alerted Stomp to a TikTok video posted by Dixmondsg on July 16, sharing what happened during the Night at Orchard event on June 27.
The clip has since garnered over 214,000 views.
"A customer came by and made a purchase worth $546," the company said in the video.
"She paid via PayLah! and even showed us a screenshot of the payment.
"So we packed her items, and she left. But when we checked our records after the event, we couldn't find her payment at all."
Dixmondsg said it followed up with the customer via WhatsApp, but the number provided appeared to be registered under a different name and is now unreachable.
The business has since filed a police report.
In a comment on the video, Dixmondsg founder Claudia Scarlett provided more details.
She said the customer had signed a purchase form and submitted a screenshot of her payment via QR code, under the name "Val" at around 8pm.
The woman allegedly bought three full Twilight haircare bundles, which include a shampoo and a conditioner, along with one hair booster spray.
"Despite our efforts to locate 'Val' over the following 72 hours, we were unable to reach her," said Claudia.
"As a result, a police report has been filed, and the assigned investigation officer will be retrieving CCTV footage from the event organiser."
The woman is described in the police report as a "young Chinese female, estimated to be in her mid-20s", wearing a white shirt and long jeans.
Claudia added: "We are still open to resolving this matter amicably. If you are 'Val' or have any information, please reach out to us urgently via DM or WhatsApp by July 20."
