Woman, 60, traumatised after being 'bullied' into paying $128 for uneven brows at AMK salon
A woman has accused an Ang Mo Kio beauty salon of 'scamming and bullying' her mother, allegedly pressuring her into paying for an expensive eyebrow embroidery service she did not agree to.
Stomper Tracy shared that her 60-year-old mother was approached on the street on Feb 28, and offered a $10 eyebrow trimming.
She agreed and followed the staff to Elene Beauty at Block 705 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.
Once inside, a staff member allegedly pressured her into signing up for a $128 3D Eyebrow Embroidery service.
"Trusting them, she paid in cash before the service began," said Tracy. "However, this was just the start of their trap."
The Stomper said that while her mother was seated, the salon's staff persistently pushed her to upgrade to a $680 6D Eyebrow Embroidery, which she repeatedly declined.
Then, the first staff member allegedly handed her a mirror and falsely claimed she had already received a '6D shaping service'.
"Shocked, my mother showed her receipt, insisting she had only signed up for the $128 service," said Tracy.
Instead of addressing her concerns, several staff members reportedly surrounded her, pressuring her to pay more.
"When she refused, the staff member spitefully wiped off the shaping and drew two thick, uneven lines on her eyebrows -- a deliberate act of humiliation."
"Instead of fixing it, they permanently embroidered the uneven design onto her face!"
The next day, Tracy's mother returned with her husband in tears, begging for corrections.
Instead of assisting, the staff allegedly mocked her and chased them out, saying, "Even if you call the police, nothing will happen to us."
"The trauma she suffered is severe," the Stomper shared.
"Desperate to fix the damage, we sought help from another salon, only to learn that laser removal is the only solution -- an expensive, painful process that risks permanent eyebrow hair loss."
Tracy criticised the salon's tactics and for 'preying' on innocent women. She also wanted to share her mother's experience to spread awareness.
In response to a Stomp query, Elene Beauty said, "Thank you for bringing this customer feedback to our attention.
"We sincerely apologise for the unpleasant experience and appreciate the opportunity to address it.
"After reviewing the situation with our team and engaging directly with the customer, we have successfully clarified any miscommunications and resolved the issue.
"We are committed to continuously improving our customer service to ensure a positive experience for all our clients."
Tracy confirmed that her mother was offered a refund for the $128 she paid as well as $300 in compensation for laser removal for the eyebrow embroidery.
"They offered a free treatment to correct the badly done eyebrows, but we declined," she added.
"We do not dare to return again as we dont want to risk to be in the mercy of them to do the work. It was a horrific experience.
"My mum couldn't sleep well nor eat well during the entire episode as she felt she looked like a clown with lopsided eyebrows."
