Woman, 36, arrested for loanshark harassment case in Yishun

A 36-year-old woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

The main gate and door of a residential unit at Yishun Avenue 4 was splashed with yellow paint and a debtor's note was pasted on the gate.

The police were alerted to the case on April 8 and the woman was arrested on the same day of the report.

Preliminary investigations revealed that she is allegedly involved in several similar cases of loanshark harassment islandwide.

She will be charged with loanshark harassment in court on April 10, and if found guilty, faces a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not to work with or assist them in any way.

The public can call the police at '999' if they suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in loansharking activities.
