Woman, 29, arrested for locking Bukit Panjang flat's gate and leaving note: 'O$P#x27;

A 29-year-old woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

The main gate of a residential unit along Bukit Panjang Ring Road was secured with a bicycle lock and debtor's note was pasted on the gate.

On April 9 at about 7.35pm, the police were alerted to the case.

The woman was subsequently arrested on April 10.

Preliminary investigations revealed that she is believed to be involved in other similar cases of loanshark harassment islandwide.

The woman will be charged in court on April 11 for loanshark harassment.

The offence carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years and caning of up to six strokes.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not work with or assist them in any way.

The public can call '999' if they suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in loansharking activities.
