Wheelchair user faced with stairs to Hougang polling station, has to go 'one big round' to main entrance: Stomper
A Hougang resident is unhappy with the accessibility of her polling station at Holy Innocents' Primary School.
Stomper Wendy shared a photo of people with a wheelchair user looking up the stairs to the side gate of the school opposite Block 305 Hougang Avenue 5 on Polling Day on May 3.

"For some polling stations like this one in Hougang, not enough informations given for voters to know to use which gate to enter," said the Stomper.
"Many in wheelchairs or with injuries can't climb the flight of steps to the polling station and had to walk one big round just to get to the main entrance.
"They didn't take into consideration such important logistics matters."

The Stomper suggested that such issues might have even affected the election results.
"Many voters came in a light-hearted mood to vote and then go for a meal, but ended up getting worked up and left with anger," she said.
"Worse still, some might have even spoiled their votes. This was how seriously such neglect can affect the mood and votes of many."
The Stomper added that she gave feedback about the problem during the presidential election in 2023, but nothing changed.
She said: "I like to create awareness."
