Water in Bukit Timah drain turns unnatural shade of blue, PUB monitoring situation
The water in a drain in Bukit Timah turned an unusual shade of blue on Jan 23.
Stomper Lam shared with Stomp a video of the brightly coloured water flowing through a drain near Lasia Avenue and Sixth Avenue that he took at about 5.40pm.
"Someone irresponsible has dumped pollutants into the drain, causing the drain water to turn blue," the Stomper speculated.
In response to a Stomp query, national water agency PUB said it conducted checks following the Stomper's feedback but did not detect any traces of the discharge at the location or further upstream.
"PUB will monitor the location closely over the next few days," a PUB spokesperson said.
"It is illegal to discharge substances into public drains."
The public can contact PUB at 1800-CALL-PUB (1800-2255-782) to report any suspected pollution in our waterways.
