Watch out for this French cheese product and German male sex enhancement 'candy': SFA
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is warning consumers about two products containing something they shouldn't.
The agency said in a media release on Nov 23 that Cheese Club Singapore has voluntarily recalled a raw cheese product, Fruitiere des Jarrons' Mont d'Or, following a voluntary recall by one of their suppliers in France due to the potential contamination of a pathogen.

Yersinia enterocolitica is a food-borne pathogen that primarily causes gastroenteritis in humans and animals. Symptoms typically include fever, abdominal pain (often in the lower right part of the abdomen), and bloody diarrhoea in children.
The sources of infection include raw or undercooked pork, dairy products, contaminated plants, seafood, and drinking water. The pathogen can proliferate at refrigeration temperatures, making even low levels of contamination in dairy products a significant risk.
As a precautionary measure, SFA has directed the importer, Cheese Club Singapore to recall the implicated products. The recall is ongoing.
In a separate case, the agency said on Nov 22 that it has detected a medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction in a food product called Tiger Candy, marketed on local e-commerce platforms as a candy with claims of male sexual enhancement effects.
Consumers are advised not to purchase or consume the product, which is purportedly made in Germany.

Tadalafil is a prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction and should only be given under medical supervision. Inappropriate is dangerous and can increase the risk of serious adverse effects, including heart attack, stroke, headache, migraine, irregular heart rate and priapism (painful and exceedingly long erections).
The medicine can also pose serious risks to certain individuals, including those with heart-related problems, and cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure in those who are on heart medications, especially those containing nitrates.
SFA has worked with various online e-commerce platforms to remove the listings of Tiger Candy and issued warnings to the respective sellers to refrain from selling the product with immediate effect.
