A Volvo driver blocking a carpark exit allegedly shouted at another motorist when asked to move.

Stomper Liza was in the car exiting the City Gate carpark on Aug 12 at 8.30pm when she encountered the white Volvo parked outside the carpark exit near Beach Road.

"The car was positioned in such a way that it partially blocked the exit lane, making it extremely difficult for vehicles to turn out – especially with oncoming cars from the other direction," recounted the Stomper.

"As we attempted to exit, the situation became challenging as there were also vehicles approaching from the other lane."

The Stomper shared dashcam footage showing her car having difficulty turning into Minto Road, which had a single white centre line to indicate no parking is allowed on either side of the road.

"From the video, you can see that when we were turning out and honked at the white car, the driver made no attempt to move. This caused us to slow down while exiting the car park.

"You can also see in the footage that there was a lorry and another car coming from the opposite direction, which left us with a very narrow gap to turn out.

"To alert the driver, we honked at the white car, but the driver refused to move."

The video does not show what happened next.

The Stomper said: "When we finally managed to pull out, we stopped beside the white car and told the driver not to park there. At that time, he was sitting inside using his phone, and thus I wound down the window and told him to move, but he still refused.

"Instead of cooperating, the driver responded aggressively, shouting at us: “What’s your problem? Then how? You got a problem, is it?”

"The driver wasn’t apologetic or concerned at all – in fact, even after being confronted, he still refused to move.

"Not only was his car illegally parked, he was also causing a jam and making it dangerous for cars trying to turn out."

The Stomper added that she had submitted a complaint to the Land Transport Authority.

She said: "I hope that action will be taken and such obstruction can be prevented in the future."
