US TikToker trying hot kopi in plastic bag for 1st time wonders if it comes with ice, STB responds
A US TikToker tried hot kopi in a plastic bag for the first time and wondered if it also came with ice.
Content creator Jaeda Skye uploaded the video of her Singapore coffee review on Aug 5 with the caption: "Imagine if it was iced coffee though."
One commenter helpfully suggested: 'Try saying 'one kopi peng, please.'
The TikToker replied: "Ah thank youuu!!"
Even the Singapore Tourism Board chimed in via its TikTok account Visit Singapore: "Trust us, you're gonna love the iced version!"
The TikToker also said in the video that the way to drink the hot kopi was to sip it, hold it in your mouth and then swallow.
"So you don't burn yourself," said the American.
Another questionable bit of information she shared was about why plastic bags are used..
"I was talking to the locals. They said they put it in a bag because a lot of their cars don't have cup holders. So they just hang it, hold on to it, so they can sip while they drive to work," she explained.
One wit commented: "Wrong! We do have cup holders, but most of us don't have a car."
The video also demonstrates how a little contraption with a hook was used to hang a plastic bag of kopi on a table.
As for the kopi itself, the TikToker said: "It kinda tastes like hot chocolate almost."
She also posted videos of herself trying bubble tea in Changi Airport, Yeo's canned drinks at Raffles Hotel and iced Milo in Chinatown, although she called it "Milo dinosaur".
After learning about iced kopi in a plastic bag, she attempted to order one in Malaysia and failed.
