Unconscious man found by passer-by in forested area at Ulu Sembawang Park Connector
An unconscious man was found in a forested area at Ulu Sembawang Park Connector on July 29.
Mr Tan Kim Chwee was walking along the park connector when he spotted the man at the foot of a downslope forested area, approximately 20m away from the footpath.
Another passer-by, Mr Jayaretnam Sinnathamby, immediately joined Mr Tan to render assistance to the man and they alerted the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Mr Tan and Mr Jayaretnam continued to keep close observation of the man and provided crucial information to the police when they arrived.
The duo's actions enabled timely rescue efforts that ultimately saved the man's life.
On Aug 7, Mr Tan and Mr Jayaretnam were presented with the Public Spiritedness Award by Woodlands Police Division.

"Their selflessness and public spiritedness saved a life," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Ang Eng Seng, Commander of Woodlands Police Division.
"If not for their alertness and decisive actions, the Home Team would have had to expend significant resources and efforts to find the man, had his family reported him missing.
"Their actions are a fine example of how members of the public can step up to assist the police. We hope their act will inspire others to play their part in saving lives and preserve the peace and safety that we enjoy in Singapore."
