In a Facebook post at 9.45am, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at Block 407 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 at about 2:40am.

Most of the stalls in the coffee shop were damaged by the blaze, which was extinguished with four water jets.

The rest of the coffee shop also sustained considerable heat and smoke damage.

Eighteen residents were evacuated from the units on the second storey by the police. There were no reported injuries.

The fire had likely originated from unattended cooking in one of the stalls in the coffee shop, said SCDF.

SCDF added that it would like to remind the public of some good practices to prevent such fires:

  • Do not leave cooking unattended.
  • Do not place any flammable materials near heat sources.
  • Keep the stove and its surrounding area free from grease and oil stains.
