They just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

UK couple Taz and Libby visiting Singapore were planning to do a video about the nightlife here when they unexpectedly came across a rare sight outside Suntec City mall on July 27.

That was when the first preview for the 2024 National Day Parade was taking place. Military vehicles were lined up on Nicoll Highway outside the mall, waiting to make their entrance for the parade at the nearby Padang.

The couple posted a video of the spectacle on their YouTube channel Sun Kissed Bucket List on Aug 2.

The video shows them joining the row of people standing along the side of the cordoned-off road marvelling at the Singapore Armed Forces assets.

"Wow, it's so cool. It's like a whole convoy as well," said Taz.

"I have never seen a convoy like this literally in the city centre with all of these skyscrapers surrounding you. And down here, it's like real-life Call Of Duty happening."

Call Of Duty is a series of popular war-themed video games.

As the vehicles rolled past, the spectators waved and the military personnel occasionally reciprocated. Home Team vehicles were spotted as well.

"Everyone is in high spirits," said Taz.

"I never thought that in a setting like this - skyscrapers, high-rises everywhere - that we'd be seeing tanks on the road. This is surreal."

Libby added: "This is actually really cool."

To top it off, three helicopters carrying the Singapore flag flew over the YouTubers, followed by fighter jets with a thunderous roar.

After all that excitement, the rest of the 30-minute video seems a bit anti-climatic as the couple explored Haji Lane, Arab Street, Gardens by the Bay and Maxwell Food Centre.

The second and final NDP 2024 preview was held on Aug 3. The actual parade will take place on Aug 9.
