Tree falls on container truck, causing massive traffic jam on PIE

Motorists were caught in a massive jam on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) after a tree fell on a container truck on May 31.

Stomper F was in bus service 518 when she noticed traffic was moving at a crawl-like pace.

At 10.30am, she observed the jam's cause to be a stationary container truck in the left-most lane near the Jalan Eunos exit.

A tree had fallen onto the vehicle's cab.

In an update posted at 9.56am on X, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said there was an obstacle on the PIE towards Tuas, after Jalan Eunos.

It advised drivers to avoid lanes 3 and 4.

"Thankfully, traffic was smooth after that," F said.
