A Toyota multi-purpose vehicle was caught on camera not giving way to an ambulance on the Central Expressway (CTE) on May 14 at 11.50am.

Stomper Xavier shared dashcam footage of the incident on the CTE after the Braddell exit towards the city.

"I witnessed a Black Toyota Alphard hogging the first lane of the expressway, blatantly refusing to give way to an ambulance with its siren on," recounted the Stomper.

"Despite clear urgency, the driver showed no intention of moving aside.

"In response, I slowed down and shifted to the second lane, allowing the ambulance to overtake the Alphard and continue its journey."

The ambulance had the words "Sengkang General Hospital" on the side.

The Stomper said: "It's disheartening to see such selfish, irresponsible and oblivious behavior on the road. Drivers like this have no place behind the wheel.

"Let's hope none of their loved ones ever end up in an ambulance needing urgent help, only to be delayed by someone like themselves.

"I've reported this incident to the Traffic Police."

Failing to give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire brigades or Police vehicles is a traffic offence punishable with four demerit points and a $150 fine for cars.
