Town council investigating dumping of mountains of trash at Bedok Reservoir block
Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) is looking for the person or people who have been dumping bags of trash at Block 742 Bedok Reservoir Road.
Stomper Aliyya highlighted the issue after spotting a mountain of rubbish at the foot of her block on Oct 30.
"Unknown people are throwing garbage at our block," she said.
In response to a Stomp query, the town council said they are aware that trash bags are being disposed of at the location.
"The trash bags were discarded overnight and were cleared by our conservancy cleaners on two occasions," an AHTC spokesperson said.
"However, the act of dumping at the site continued."
The town council said that preliminary observations suggest that one or several commercial units may be disposing trash at the block.
"The town council will issue advisories to the commercial units in the vicinity to inform them that the situation is being monitored and to educate them on proper disposal of trash," the spokesperson said.
"Enforcement action will be taken if the problem persists and once the culprit(s) are tracked down."
