Woman still feeding birds in Yishun despite measures, leaving resident 'fearful'
Original article:
A resident has been illegally feeding birds in Yishun Avenue 6, ruffling the feathers of her neighbours and even the town council.
Stomper JuzWantPeace shared the "ongoing public nuisance and health hazards" created by the woman in the vicinity of Blocks 465, 466 and 466A. She purportedly lives in the area.
The woman has been feeding birds in the estate ever since late November last year, said the Stomper.
JuzWantPeace said: "She has been consistently feeding pigeons and crows in our residential area.
"This practice has led to a severe health issue, creating an unhealthy living environment for all residents. The accumulation of bird droppings and the increase in bird population are not only unsightly, but also pose a risk of disease transmission.
"She has also been regularly rummaging through rubbish left in communal areas. This behaviour has further aggravated the hygiene issues, as it leads to litter being scattered, attracting pests and creating a breeding ground for vermin.

"You can find her actively scavenging through the rubbish collections area of almost every block. She starts her routine in the early morning and it lasts the entire day.
"Her actions have caused distress and inconvenience to those living nearby, affecting the peace and harmony of our community.
"Despite numerous complaints and repeated feedback to the town council, no effective solution has been implemented and the problem remains unresolved as of August 2024.
"The woman continues her disruptive activities, leaving residents frustrated and concerned for their well-being. We have an amazing cleaner and we pity him too."
In response to a Stomp query, a spokeswoman for Nee Soon Town Council said it is aware of the resident who feeds pigeons at the aforementioned blocks.
"Despite the town council's multiple engagements with the resident, she continues to carry out the illegal feeding," the spokeswoman added.
"As a last resort, we have also sought the help of the National Parks Board (NParks) to carry out enforcement measures.
"In such difficult situations where there are recalcitrant feeders, we have to also put in pigeon population management measures.
"We share the frustration with the other residents but will continue to advise the recalcitrant feeder."
