Town council cordons off Bishan swing after boy's fingertip sliced off, seeks to contact family
The Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council (BTPTC) has cordoned off a swing at Block 219 Bishan Street 23 after a 10-year-old boy was injured while using it.
Stomp earlier reported on the incident that happened on Sept 22.
Stomper KG shared that he called for an ambulance after two foreign workers from Tong Shing Contractors, who immediately attended to the boy, signalled at him for help.
Photos shared by KG showed the boy's bloodstained hands and the tip of his left ring finger dangling.
In response to a Stomp query, BTPTC said it was alerted on the morning of Sept 23 to the incident, in which the boy's fingertip was trapped by a 'loose seat member' of the swing located at the pavilion.
"The swing was installed under the ongoing Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and the affected area has been cordoned off," a town council spokesperson said.
"We are currently following up with the contractor."
It added that it is also trying to contact the boy and his family to offer assistance: "We seek the family to reach out to us at Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council hotline 6259 6700."
