Participants supposed to win tickets by describing Chingay in 1 word -- but winner used 9 words
He thought it was unfair.
A participant in a Chingay tickets giveaway is upset that the organiser didn't follow its own rule.
Cheng San Community Club had posted the giveaway on Facebook and Instagram on Jan 24, asking people to answer three questions to win a pair of tickets to Chingay 2025, which was held on Feb 7 and 8.
The questions were:
- What's the theme of this year's Chingay Parade?
- When was the very first Chingay parade held?
- Describe what Chingay means to you in one word.
Participants were to answer the question in comment section and a winner would be picked from Facebook and another from Instagram.
Stomper Steven said: "I participated in the quiz conducted by Cheng San Community Club, affiliated with People's Association."
"The rule requires participants to describe Chingay in one word, but the chosen winner used more than one word."
The winner from Facebook had answered the third question with nine words: "A time to celebrate Singapore's diverse cultures and traditions."

"This is so unfair to other participants who abide by the rule," complained the Stomper.
"How can this be allowed?"
Stomp has contacted Cheng San Community Club for more info.
