A hawker scolded a woman and her companions who went to Lau Pa Sat for satay, but netizens are split over who's at fault.

In a TikTok video uploaded recently by @izamo69 or Isabelle, she claimed: "Average Singapore service: Auntie gave us the wrong satay, then screamed like we messed up.

"I'm traumatised now."

She added in the caption: "First and last time I went to Lau Pa Sat."

In the short clip, a visibly upset hawker is heard scolding the customer: "I asked you to wait there, I never asked you to take."

While the exact sequence of events isn't fully clear, the poster appears to have taken a satay order she thought was hers, but it may have belonged to someone else.

The auntie raised her voice, leaving the customer stunned.

The video has since garnered over 758,000 views.

Netizens were quick to weigh in, and opinions were mixed.

Some defended the hawker: "From what I hear, she said she told you to wait and you took the wrong order which doesn't belong to you."

Another added: "You took the wrong one and you blame her???"

However, others felt the delivery was unnecessarily harsh.

"No excuse for the tone of her voice," said one, while another commented, "Yeah lah but the makcik quite rude leh."

Some viewers took note of the stall's location, asking which one to avoid next time.

"Which stall?" asked one user. "I'll be avoiding them next time I go. Scary."

Still, a few urged empathy: "Yeah it sucks to be shouted at but I always try to remember they're middle-aged (if not older) and they've probably been doing stressful rush hours for years without a break. That helps me give them grace."
