'This is last warning before I do again': Man arrested after red paint and note left outside Yishun flat
A 21-year-old man was arrested for loanshark harassment after red paint was splashed on the wall beside a Yishun flat on July 22.
The police were alerted at about 7.45am to the case at Yishun Avenue 6 where a debtor’s note was also affixed on the wall.
The note said: 'This is last warning before I do again. WhatsApp me to settle."
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within seven hours.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is allegedly involved in other similar cases of loanshark harassment island-wide.
The accused will be charged in court on July 23 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.
For first time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and mandatory caning of up to six strokes.
