A Mercedes-Benz caught fire outside MacPherson MRT station on Oct 3 at about 3.20pm, prompting two foreign workers to step forward and attempt to extinguish the flames before the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived.

Stomper Jacob, who witnessed the fire, said he saw smoke coming from the car's engine compartment near Block 66A Circuit Road.

"I noticed two foreign workers rushing over with portable fire extinguishers to help put out the fire," he recounted.

"It all happened really fast - just a few minutes before SCDF arrived."

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at Circuit Link at about 3.25pm.

The blaze involved the engine compartment of a car and was extinguished using two hose reels, an SCDF spokesperson said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
