A video circulating on Facebook has sparked outrage and concern among netizens after it showed a couple riding a personal mobility device (PMD) across a pedestrian crossing -- with a makeshift twist.

Attached to the PMD was a child's car carrying two young children, a boy and a girl.

The video, which has garnered over 627,00 views on Weekend Go Where Singapore's Facebook page, highlights the lengths some Singaporeans may go to avoid the high costs of transportation.

While some netizens sympathised with the high costs of owning a car, others were quick to condemn the act as reckless and irresponsible.

One commenter wrote: "Some families are not so fortunate to have like what others have. They are making use of what they have and not giving any problems to others."

Another agreed and said: "They should release cheaper COE (certificate of entitlement) for families with kids and elderly."

However, most Facebook users slammed the couple.

"It's too much," wrote one commenter. "Selfish. Never think of the kids' safety."

"Can't afford private transport, then take public transport, don't put your whole family in danger," said another.
