It was a horrible experience for the homeowner.

Stomper S said his tenant left his condominium unit in a "horrible" state and sent him vulgarities when he refused to return the deposit.

The homeowner shared a video of the mess after the tenant moved out on Nov 10.

The Stomper had rented his entire Serangoon Road apartment for $4,300 a month to the tenant and his girlfriend, who moved in on July 23, 2023. Both were students from China.

Three months later, the couple broke up.

"The tenant told me he would only pay half the rent and I had to chase his ex-girlfriend for the rest," recounted the Stomper. "Finally, he relented and paid rent in full, subject to adding a new tenant since his girlfriend left."

The Stomper said: "For 12 months, a helper went in, but the apartment was still in a horrible condition on hand-over day.

"The dinner table is broken and the study table is in bad condition. The dirty toilet bowl was not cleaned properly after taking a dump.

"The toilet had cigarette butts on the floor. Smoking was everywhere in the apartment. Half-eaten food, chilli oil, garlic, et cetera, were left behind.

"The Igloohome digital lock was not unpaired from the tenant's app and now it is not working."

The homeowner said almost a whole day was spent cleaning up the apartment.

"Many of the bulky items, like the table, cost 80 dollars just to dispose of it," said the Stomper, who decided not to return the $4,300 deposit to the tenant.

"I sent a note to them detailing some of the key broken stuff and from my count, it exceeds the deposit and told them I wouldn't be refunding anything."

The tenant responded by sending the Stomper vulgarities in Chinese via WeChat, said the homeowner, who shared screenshots of the messages.

"Overall, a horrible experience that I just want to share with everyone."
