A "technical issue" caused an army tank to come in contact with a traffic light pole at North Bridge Road on July 5, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) told Stomp.

It happened following the mobile column segment of the National Day Parade National Education Show 2.

A video of the incident was posted online by SG Road Vigilante.

In response to a Stomp query, a Mindef spokesperson said the Leopard 2SG main battle tank experienced a technical issue at 7.22pm.

"This resulted in an incident along North Bridge Road, where the tank came into contact with a traffic light," said the spokesperson.

The armoured vehicle was travelling within the speed limit of 20kmh at the time. No one was injured, and the tank remained within the cordoned area away from the public.

The spokesperson added that the tank crew responded in accordance with standard operating procedures and the tank was safely recovered with no damage to the vehicle.

The traffic light pole had minor damage.

Mindef and NDP 2025 Executive Committee have worked with the Land Transport Authority and completed the necessary repairs.

Investigations are ongoing.
