A woman’s morning commute was interrupted by an accident along Woodlands Avenue 3 on April 6.

Stomper Raihana was on board bus service 960 when the bus made its usual stop opposite Kranji MRT station, located along Woodlands Road, at around 10.20am. However, she soon realised something was amiss.

“I was on my phone and realised the bus wasn’t moving,” Raihana told Stomp.

She observed a passenger asking the bus driver why the bus had stopped. The driver replied in Mandarin that “something happened ahead” so the bus could not depart.

“I got up and asked the driver if there was an accident ahead, and he just said something fell or something big dropped ahead,” Raihana explained.

As she was rushing for time, the Stomper requested to exit the bus so that she could take the train instead. It was when she was atop an overhead bridge at around 10.25am that she noticed a road block along Woodlands Avenue 3.

Based on her vantage point, Raihana believed that the accident had occurred at the traffic junction before Kranji MRT station.

“I’m not sure what happened, but definitely something big must have caused the road block,” Raihana said, adding that she noticed a few Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles.

She shared a video showing several SCDF trucks in the distance. Traffic at the junction appeared to be held up.

Fire involved tanker, Woodlands Avenue 3 closed

In response to Stomp’s queries, the SCDF confirmed that it was alerted to a fire along Woodlands Avenue 3 at around 9.45am.

The fire involved the rear wheel of a tanker, which SCDF extinguished using a water jet.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

In several posts on X, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) posted about the accident and a resulting road closure. Motorists were advised to avoid lanes two and three.
