17-year-old girl among 3 people charged for trafficking Kpods
Three people were charged on Oct 4 for trafficking etomidate e-vaporiser pods.
They are Amir Shah Anwar Shah, 27, Vernette Heng Cui Teng, 23, and a 17-year-old girl.
Following investigations on a suspected male Kpod user on Oct 2, Health Sciences Authority (HSA) officers tracked down two of his alleged suppliers, Heng and the teen girl.
HSA seized 64 suspected Kpods from Heng's home and 16 from the teen's home.
Further investigations led officers to Amir Shah, who allegedly supplied Kpods to the teen and another female user via Telegram.
Four e-vaporisers and related components suspected to contain etomidate were seized from Amir Shah's residence.
The seized pods are being tested for etomidate and investigations are ongoing.
The two suspected Kpod users were fined on the spot and will be required to attend rehabilitation if their vapes contained etomidate.
The case for the teen was adjourned to Oct 13 while the cases for Heng and Amir Shah were adjourned to Oct 24.
Sellers and distributors of Kpods face penalties that include two to 10 years' imprisonment and two to five strokes of the cane.
