'Survey' outside Causeway Point turns out to be insurance pitch, CPF login request makes Stomper wary
A man had a 'suspicious' encounter in Woodlands involving what he described to be an unethical sales tactic disguised as a survey.
Stomper Vincent wants to alert others to this practice carried out by certain agents.
He told Stomp the incident happened outside Causeway Point on June 14 at around 3pm.
"A lady claiming to be conducting a 'survey' approached me and my friend," recalled the Stomper.
"When I asked if it was related to insurance, she said yes.
"Things got really sketchy when my friend was asked to log in to his Central Provident Fund (CPF) account right there and then as part of the so-called survey."
Vincent added that this was not an isolated incident.
"Another friend of mine was also approached by similar individuals, but he refused to log in," he said.
"The people conducting the survey appeared to be foreigners, which made the whole thing feel even more off."
According to the Stomper, the individuals involved were seen again on June 17, this time wearing brown company vests.
"My friend encountered them again today but couldn't identify which company they were from as he was on the move," he said.
"I mean, I know they are insurance agents, but it is unethical to use the word 'survey' and then try to upsell something. It's very misleading."
