A student was stunned when she asked for more ice for her drink, only to told that she would have to pay for it.

Stomper Kay shared her encounter with the drinks stall at Nanyang Technological University (NTU)'s South Spine canteen on April 25, at about 12.50pm.

She recounted: "I bought 100Plus with ice and the ice was given in a small cup. The ice melted quite quickly due to the hot weather, so I wanted to get more ice to relieve my thirst.

"I brought my cup to the stall to ask for more ice but got told off by a lady, who said that the ice is provided only once and I had to buy it if I wanted more.

"I just said okay and left because I was shocked by the speechless service.

The Stomper did not engage further or ask how much the ice would cost because of the woman's "hard tone and scary looks".

Kay added: "Actually, I would have been okay with paying for ice if the woman had said so nicely. However, I felt quite shy when she treated me harshly. It was quite awkward because there were other people around.

"I can't believe this is happening in a university canteen. The stall does not deserve to operate in a university compound as they are trying to earn more from students by asking for more money for ice.

"How much does it cost to provide a little ice???
