He saw them within minutes of each other.

Two motorcycles without licence plates were spotted on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on April 20.

Stomper Richard shared photos that show a licence plate was not displayed either on the front or the back of the vehicles.

He said: "I was shocked to see not just one, but two Malaysian-looking motorcycles travelling on BKE without licence plates!

"And within five minutes of each other! How did they even get past the authorities at the checkpoint?

"Without licence plates, it's means they can commit traffic offences or even hit-and-run without consequences. This is very worrying for our road safety."

In Singapore, vehicle licence plates must be prominently displayed at the front and back of all vehicles, so that vehicles can be easily identified for regulation, enforcement and emergency purposes.

Failing to display the licence plates is an offence, which carries a fine not exceeding $1,000, a jail term of up to three months or both. Repeat offenders are liable to a fine of up to $2,000, a jail term of up to six months or both.
